It is a drum. Twenty-eight centimetres across, thirty-two tall, and it stands on the floor beside your chair like a small barrel of wool. Unzip the lid and the whole top comes off at once — no reaching down a narrow opening, no digging. Six balls go in, side by side, and you can see every one of them.
Zip it shut and the yarn keeps working. Four grommet holes sit in the lid, set into two long slots, and the strands run up out of them while the balls turn quietly inside. Nothing rolls across the room. Nothing comes back covered in cat hair.
Crochet hooks and knitting needles live in the pockets around the outside, standing upright where you can reach them without putting your work down. One pocket is mesh, so you can see the scissors. Lift it by the moulded handle across the lid, or clip on the shoulder strap and carry the lot to a class with your hands free.

Why a drum and not a tote
A tote sags. You put four balls of yarn in a flat-bottomed tote and it folds around them, the yarn settles into the corners, and by the time you get where you are going the strands have found each other.
A drum holds its shape whether it is full or nearly empty. The balls sit in a single layer rather than piling on top of each other, so the one you want is never underneath the other five. And because the lid unzips right around, the bag opens to its full diameter — the whole project is in front of you at once.
The lid
- Two slotted openings with four grommet holes — one strand each, four colours at once if you are doing colourwork, and the lid still closes over them.
- A zip right around the rim, so the top lifts away cleanly instead of gaping.
- A moulded carry handle across the centre, wide enough not to bite when the bag is full.
- D-rings with 360° swivel clips for the shoulder strap, which is adjustable and comes off completely when you would rather carry it by hand.

The pockets
They run around the body of the drum on the outside, so they do not eat into the space where the yarn goes.
- Slot pockets — deep and narrow, for crochet hooks, double-pointed needles, a yarn cone standing up.
- A mesh pocket — scissors, a tape measure, stitch markers, the things you lose. You can see in without opening it.
What it holds
About six 100 g balls with room to work — that is a buyer's own count, not ours. In practice: a jumper's worth of wool, a blanket in progress, or three or four projects parked together between sessions.
It is the bag for the yarn that will not fit anywhere else, and for the maker who would rather keep one project fully loaded than repack a tote every time.
Size, fabric and care

- Size — 32 cm / 12.6 in tall by 28 cm / 11 in across, measured on the plain colourways.
- Weight — about 360–400 g empty.
- Fabric — 600D Oxford, water-resistant, wipes clean with a damp cloth. Dry it open rather than folded away.
- Carry — moulded top handle, plus an adjustable shoulder strap on swivel clips, detachable.
- Colours — Gray, Black, Purple, Red Rose, Geometrical, Blue Boho, Green Peony and Rainbow Leaves. Eight in all: four heathered plains and four prints.
- Included — the bag. The yarn, needles, hooks and scissors in the photographs are there to show the pockets in use.
How it compares
Against a flat-bottomed knitting tote. A tote carries more shapes of thing but keeps none of them in order. This keeps a single project upright, visible and feeding.
Against a small project bag. A project bag is right for a sock or a hat. It will not take a jumper's worth of wool, and it has nowhere to stand a full set of hooks.
Against a basket by the chair. A basket is open — to dust, to the cat, to a toddler. This zips, and it travels.
Questions knitters and crocheters ask
How much yarn actually fits?
Around six 100 g balls with working room. One buyer packed exactly that and said so in his review, which is a better figure than anything a tape measure gives you.
Can I keep knitting with the bag closed?
Yes — that is what the four holes in the lid are for. Feed the strand through before you zip it, and the ball stays inside turning while you work.
Is the shoulder strap removable?
It is. Two swivel clips, adjustable webbing, on and off in a second. The moulded handle on the lid stays either way.
Does it stand up on its own when it is empty?
It does. The base is a flat 28 cm circle and the sides are structured, so it holds its shape whether it is packed or nearly empty.
Will it survive a wet walk to a class?
The 600D Oxford sheds a shower and wipes clean. Water-resistant rather than waterproof — do not soak it, and let it dry open.
What is the difference between the plain colours and the prints?
Construction is the same: same drum, same lid, same grommets, same pockets. Gray, Black, Purple and Red Rose are heathered plains; Geometrical, Blue Boho, Green Peony and Rainbow Leaves are printed.
Load it once. Work out of it for a month.

Would have been better with pockets inside and lining.
Fabulous project bags thank you
Great project bags, thank you.
Smaller than the picture suggests - I could only get it to hold 6x 100g balls max! But still useful for knitting on the go.
