Three big cones of thread standing upright beside your machine, each one feeding up through its own guide eyelet and across to the needle. No cone rattling on a spool pin it was never made for, no thread snagging on the rim, no stopping to wind a smaller spool. This 3-cone thread stand gives large cones a proper home, so the thread lifts smoothly off the top the way cone thread is meant to unwind.
It is a freestanding sewing machine thread stand in four cheerful colours: a slim metal upright, a T-shaped top guide with one eyelet per cone, and a moulded base that works as a little tidy station too, with individual bobbin slots and an open tray for clips, a seam ripper or the bobbins you are about to use.
Set it beside a home sewing machine, an embroidery machine or a serger. One customer bought it for exactly that pair and called it just what she needed for her embroidery machine and her serger; another called it so handy for machine embroidery.

Product Details
- Holds 3 cones or large spools on three pegs set into the base
- One guide eyelet per cone on the T-shaped top bar, so the three threads stay apart
- Built-in storage: individual bobbin slots plus an open compartment for small notions
- Materials: plastic base, pegs and top guide; metal upright rods
- Freestanding: nothing to clamp, screw or mount
- Easy assembly: arrives in parts that push together; the video above shows the whole build
- Colours: Pink, Blue, Yellow or White
- In the package: 1 thread stand in the colour you choose (thread, bobbins and notions shown in the photos are not included)
How It Works
Stand each cone on its own peg. Take the thread straight up to the eyelet above it, then across to your machine's first thread guide and thread the machine as usual. Because the thread is drawn from above, it spirals off the top of the cone instead of being dragged sideways off a spool pin, which is how cone thread is designed to feed.
Use one peg for a single big cone of piecing thread, or all three when you are running several colours or threads at once.

Who It's For
- Machine embroidery: keep your working colours on cones beside the machine, ready to thread.
- Serger and overlock sewing: three pegs feed a three-thread overlock from full-size cones.
- Quilting and everyday sewing: buy piecing and topstitching thread on large cones and use it straight from the cone.
- Small sewing spaces: the stand, your bobbins and your clips share one small footprint.
How This Compares
Against your machine's own spool pin: a household spool pin is sized for small spools. A cone sitting on it wobbles and pulls unevenly. This stand holds the cone upright on its own peg and feeds the thread from above.
Against table-mounted industrial thread stands: those are built to bolt through a hole in an industrial sewing table. This one simply stands beside a home machine, moves between your sewing machine, embroidery machine and serger, and adds bobbin storage in the base.
Against spool huggers and bobbin holders: those keep a bobbin clipped to its matching spool in storage. A thread stand does a different job: it feeds thread to the machine while you sew.
Sizing, Materials & Care
- Plastic base, pegs and top guide with metal upright rods.
- Stand it on a flat, level surface behind or beside your machine. On a smooth table, a small non-slip mat underneath keeps it in place.
- Wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
- To store or travel, it takes apart again the same way it went together.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good holder for spools of thread?
For sewing from large cones, a freestanding thread stand like this one: each cone sits on its own peg and the thread feeds from a guide above it into your machine. For storing spools on a shelf or wall, a storage rack is the better fit.
Will it hold large cones of thread?
Yes. The pegs are made for cones, and the product video shows the stand holding three full-size cones.
Can I use it with an embroidery machine or a serger?
Yes. It is freestanding, so it works beside a home sewing machine, an embroidery machine or a serger. Customers use it with exactly those.
Does it store bobbins?
Yes. The base has individual bobbin slots and an open compartment for clips and other small notions.
Is it hard to put together?
No. The parts push together by hand; the video at the top of this page shows every step.
Question 1 is a real Google "People also ask" question for thread stands. Questions 2 to 5 come from what AI shopping assistants say buyers of thread stands check before they buy.
Three cones, one tidy station, and thread that feeds the way it should. Choose your colour and give your cones a proper home.
