A grinning ginger kitten batting a ball of red yarn. A second kitten in a party hat, holding a heart-shaped balloon. A round yellow duckling in a red bow tie, singing among music notes. This cat embroidery kit has all three printed on fabric and ready to stitch, with the threads, a 20 cm bamboo hoop, 9 needles and the tools in the box.
Above each picture is something most cute kits leave out: a printed Embroidery Dictionary — short, labelled rows of the stitches you will use, from back line and chain to satin, daisy and fly stitch. Practise a stitch on its row, then use it on the kitten straight away. The picture is where the learning sticks, and you finish with three sweet hoops instead of a page of practice lines.
Stitch them for yourself, for a child's room, or for the cat lover you already know will smile when they see it.
What's in the box
- 3 pre-printed fabrics: the ginger kitten, the party-hat kitten and the duckling
- 3 thread cards, one pre-sorted for each design
- 1 bamboo embroidery hoop, 20 cm (7.9 in)
- 3 English instruction sheets, one per design
- 9 embroidery needles
- 1 needle threader
- 1 seam ripper
- 1 pair of small scissors
Choose 2 Kits to get two complete sets — one to stitch and one to share.

The three designs
Ginger kitten. A happy striped kitten chasing a red ball of yarn across a green lawn.
Party kitten. A kitten in a party hat with a heart-shaped balloon and little bursts of confetti.
Duckling. A plump yellow duckling in a red bow tie, with music notes and small flowers around it.
How the stitch dictionary teaches you
Every fabric is printed with the words "Embroidery Dictionary" and a set of short rows, each with the stitch name beside it. Across the three designs you meet 9 named stitches:
- Running stitch
- Back line stitch
- Outline stitch
- Straight line stitch
- Chain stitch
- Satin stitch
- Daisy stitch
- Fly stitch
- Cross stitch
Because the name is printed right next to each row, you always know what you are stitching — and if one is new to you, a quick search for that name brings up a short video demonstration. The instruction sheet for each design shows how the picture itself is worked.
How this compares
Against buying a sampler and a cute kit separately: beginners are often told to learn on a labelled sampler first, then buy a picture kit. Here both are on the same fabric, so you learn a stitch and use it in the same sitting.
Against counted cross-stitch kits: there is no grid to count. This is hand embroidery — you stitch over printed lines on plain fabric.
Against a single-design kit: three designs, three thread cards and a full set of tools for one price.

Size, materials and care
- Hoop: bamboo, 20 cm (7.9 in) across. Each design is printed to fit it.
- Fabric: cotton.
- The blue printed lines wash out with water, so keep the fabric dry and do not wash it until your stitching is finished.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a good embroidery kit for beginners?
Yes. The stitch names are printed beside practice rows on every fabric, the threads are pre-sorted per design, and the hoop and tools are included, so you can start the day it arrives.
How do you embroider a cat's face?
Stitch the outline first with a fine line stitch such as back line or outline stitch, then fill small shapes like cheeks with satin stitch. You practise both on the dictionary rows above the kittens before you reach the face.
Is this cross-stitch?
It is hand embroidery, worked over printed lines. One of the practice rows is cross stitch, but there is no counted chart.
Does it come with a hoop?
Yes — one 20 cm (7.9 in) bamboo hoop, used for each fabric in turn.
Can I hang all three when they are finished?
Yes. Display one in the included hoop, and add matching 20 cm hoops from our Embroidery Hoops collection to hang all three together.
Happy stitching!
