Sweeping orchid petals curve up from the finger rings of these small embroidery scissors and meet at the pivot, framed in openwork metal like a little piece of jewellery. Then come the blades: slim, black and drawn out to a very fine point.
That point is the reason to own them. It slips under a single floss tail and snips it right against the fabric, so the back of your cross stitch stays tidy and the stitches beside it stay untouched. The product video shows the tips trimming a frayed fabric edge thread by thread, and reviewers call them really sharp.
Choose from six antique finishes — blue, red, gold, bronze, copper or iridescent titanium — and the dark blades make every colour look striking.

What They Are For
Fine thread work: cross stitch, hand embroidery, needlepoint and appliqué. Snip floss tails, trim close to stitches, cut thread from the skein, and clip into small, tight spaces where a larger pair cannot reach.

How They Compare
Against general sewing scissors: the short, ultra-fine black blades are made for close work, letting you cut a single thread without nicking the fabric or the stitches around it.
Against classic stork scissors: the same small, fine-pointed tool with a floral design and dark blades that are easy to see against light fabric.
Choosing a Finish
Blue and Red are bold, glossy colours. Gold, Bronze and Copper are warm antique metal tones. Titanium is a soft iridescent sheen that shifts between purple, blue and gold — the name describes the colour of the handles. Every finish has the same black blades.

Size and Care
11 cm (4.33 in) long and 5.4 cm (2.13 in) across the finger rings. Use them for thread and light fabric so the fine tips stay sharp, wipe them dry, and store them closed or in a scissor case. The points are very sharp, so keep them out of reach of children.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are small embroidery scissors used for?
Trimming floss and thread close to the fabric, cutting thread from the skein, and snipping in tight spaces in cross stitch, embroidery and needlepoint.
Are they good for cross stitch?
Yes. The fine pointed tips let you snip floss right at the back of the work without catching neighbouring stitches.
Why are the blades black?
The stainless steel blades have a black finish, which gives the scissors their striking look and shows up clearly against light fabric.
What size are they?
11 cm (4.33 in) long — small enough for a project bag and for close, controlled cutting.

The iridescent effect is a bit less than expected but it looks exactly like on the pictures. The scissors are really sharp, perfect for sewing.
These were a gift, I don’t know how sharp or good they are but the recipient was very pleased with them.
